Young Wrestlers
Bangor Parks and Recreation will be offering an introduction to youth Folkstyle wrestling for grades K through 5.  Athletes will learn the fundamentals of wrestling through instruction, drilling, and one-on-one matches with other athletes of similar age and weight. The goal is to continue to bring this exciting sport to the Bangor area and develop a robust youth wrestling program where kids can compete, practice good sportsmanship, enjoy camaraderie, and have fun.  Our volunteer coaches have extensive experience wrestling at the high school and collegiate levels as well as coaching various youth sports.

In an effort to provide opportunities for team development, we also offer additional gear to order.
It is not expected that you order this gear, it is offered as an option. Many wrestlers and their families, especially those that participate in tournaments, like wearing team gear to identify with the team at these events. If your child is a first time wrestler who may like to try a tournament, they can still participate without this gear. The local round robin tournaments welcome first time wrestlers and do not require wrestling shoes, singlets, or even head gear.
